------------------------------- Toshiba RESUME Device Driver for Microsoft Windows 3.0 / 3.1 ------------------------------- GENERAL DESCRIPTION: If you wish to use the RESUME function of your computer with Microsoft Windows 3.0 or 3.1 please read and follow these instructions. The file WRESUME.386 is a virtual mode device driver for Windows. This driver is only intended to be used on computers which use an 80386 (or higher) processor. Using this device driver will allow the RESUME feature of your computer to function correctly when running Windows in 386 enhanced mode. You do not need WRESUME.386 if you are running Windows 3.0 on a 386 (or higher) computer in real mode (win /r). RESUME is not supported if you are running Windows 3.0 or 3.1 in standard (286) mode. WRESUME.386 INSTALLATION: 1. Place the Diagnostics and Supplemental Disk in floppy drive A: and restart your computer by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL. 2. When the ACCESS utility Main Menu appears use the down arrow key to position the menu highlight on "Install Utilities and Files" and press ENTER. 3. The Install Utilities window will appear with a list of utilities that can be copied to your hard disk. Use the arrow keys to select WRESUME.386 and press ENTER. 4. WRESUME.386 will be installed to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM by default. You may enter a different drive or directory if you desire although you should choose the main Windows directory (usually \WINDOWS) or the Windows subdirectory \SYSTEM (usually \WINDOWS\SYSTEM). When you are satisfied with the destination drive and directory press ENTER. A confirmation message will appear when the transfer is complete. 5. Exit the ACCESS utility to reboot your computer from the hard disk. 6. Edit the standard Windows file SYSTEM.INI (found in the main Windows subdirectory) as follows: Find: [386Enh] Insert the following line AFTER the line containing [386Enh]: device=wresume.386 (it can be included anywhere within the [386Enh] section) 7. Restart Windows. The installation is now complete. OPERATION: Once installation is complete, invoking Windows will automatically cause the driver to be loaded and initialized.
