Interrupt requests (IRQ) are used by hardware devices to signal to the motherboard that a request must be fulfilled.

IRQ 0 is used by the system timer.

IRQ 1 is used by the keyboard controller.

IRQ 2 is used by the second IRQ controller.

IRQ 3 is available with BIOS 1.24 or later. IRQ 3 is commonly used by modem PC Cards.

IRQ 4 is used by the serial port.

IRQ 5 is available.

IRQ 6 is used by the floppy disk drive controller.

IRQ 7 is used by the parallel port.

IRQ 8 is used by the real time clock.

IRQ 9 is available.

IRQ 10 is available unless CardSoft is installed. If CardSoft is installed, the IRQ is used as the card status change interrupt for CardSoft.

IRQ 11 is available. It is commonly used by network PC Cards.

IRQ 12 is used by the EZ-point mouse or a external PS/2 mouse.

IRQ 13 is used by math coprocessor.

IRQ 14 is used by the hard disk controller.

IRQ 15 is available.
