The graphics display is attached via the graphics controller, which requires two adjacent slots in a system unit or expansion unit. The display and controller offer a variety of graphic functions and many ease-of-use and customizing features to help create advanced graphics. These facilities can also help with computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), computer-aided engineering (CAE), image processing, and business presentation graphics. The IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Controller requires two adjacent slots in an IBM Personal Computer AT, IBM Personal Computer XT, or IBM Personal Computer Expansion Unit. The controller can emulate the current IBM Personal Computer Color/Graphics Monitor Adapter. Many graphics functions are provided on the controller cards, reducing the need to load software subroutines for key graphic activities. SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL ----------------------------------- The IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Controller and IBM 5175 Personal Computer Professional Graphics Display can be used and managed to limit the risk of unintended modification, destruction, or disclosure of sensitive data. User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, for administrative procedures, and for appropriate controls in application systems. PLANNING INFORMATION -------------------- ORDERING INFORMATION -------------------- Orders for any quantity of IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Controllers and IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Displays may be taken by NAD/NMD marketing representatives. Orders for quantities less than 20 can be taken by IBM Product Centers. Each product center will process orders within its trading area. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES: The customer is responsible for unpacking the controller and display, installing the controller in two adjacent slots, attaching the display, and installing the device driver when the controller is used in an expanded graphics mode. LIMITATION: The IBM Personal Computer system unit requires another monitor to run diagnostics when the 5175 Professional Graphics Display is attached via the 5161 Expansion Unit. PREREQUISITES: The controller requires two adjacent slots in an IBM 5160, 5161, or 5170. The display attaches to the controller. PACKAGING: The controller and display are each packaged in a single carton. The controller carton includes warranty information, a 40 page insert to the 'Guide to Operations' manual, a single diskette for diagnostics and a single diskette which has the device driver. TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE -------------------- The IBM Personal Computing Assistance Center (PCAC) will provide assistance to eligible IBM customers for the period of their qualifying contract. CHARGES, TERMS, AND CONDITIONS ------------------------------ TERMS AND CONDITIONS CUSTOMER SETUP: The IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Display and IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Controller are customer setup (CSU). Customer setup allowance is one day. Detailed set up instructions are included with each machine and feature. Setup service is available from the IBM Customer Service Division at IBM hourly rates and minimums. WARRANTY PERIOD: One year for the IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Display and the IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Controller. WARRANTY SERVICE: Warranty service for the IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Controller is by Customer Carry-in Repair of the system unit or expansion unit with the controller feature installed, or if the warranty option is in effect, by IBM On-site Repair. Warranty service for the IBM Personal Computer Professional Graphics Display is by Customer Carry-in Exchange or, if the warranty option is in effect, by IBM On-site Exchange or Customer On-site Exchange. These service offerings are described in the Agreement for Purchase of IBM Machines (Z120-2892) and the Amendment for IBM Service/Exchange Center Services (Z125-3385-01). MAINTENANCE SERVICE: Maintenance service is available under the IBM Maintenance Agreement (Z125-3275) and the Amendment for IBM Service/Exchange Center Services (Z125-3385-01). Customers whose requirements will not result in VPA quantities may also order from an IBM Product Center. Each IBM Product Center will take and process orders within its trading area. The IBM Personal Computer 5175 Professional Graphics Display is available for remarketing under existing Personal Computer Special Bid contracts which allow remarketing subject to the terms of those contracts. The Personal Computer 5175 Professional Graphic Display and the Personal Computer Professional Graphics Controller are not available under the terms and conditions of the Employee Collegiate Program (ECP).
