1.      Overview

        This file contains new information which may not be printed in
        the manual. If any information is contrary to the manual, the
        contents of this file is to be applied.

        NOTE: not all utilities discribed in the following are supported
              by all ELSA graphics adapter!

2.      Contents

        Almost all files are compressed, their names are slightly
        changed. Please note that the files can NOT just be copied
        from this disk.

3       Installation under Windows 95

3.1      Automatically installation

        To install the ELSA Windows Tools under Windows 95, you have to
        run the SETUP.EXE from the root directory. In the
        dialog comming up now, the hardware and the operating system is
        identified, and the available tools are displayed. To install
        the ELSA Windows tools choose this item in the window "Instal-
        lation of:" with the arrow buttons or with the mouse and click
        the "Install" button. Now the files will be copied.

3.2     Manual installation

        It is no problem to install the ELSA Windows Tools for Windows 95
        manually. For that purpose change to the directory of the tool
        you want to install (e.g. D:\ELSAWARE\WINTOOLS\WIN95_NT\WINMSUIT)
        and click with the right mous button on the file with the exten-
        sion *.INF. Select in the context menu the item "Install". The
        program files will be copied.

4.      Description of the Windows 95 tools

        ELSA Video Out         Tool to activate and adjust the video out
                               features of the graphics adapter (only
                               WINNER 2000/Office, GLoria Synergy and
                               VICTORY Erazor)
        DESKman                Program for window management when using
                               ELSA MULTIman
        VIDEOcontrol           Video adjustment to optimize brightness
                               contrast and color (only for WINNER 1000/T2D
                               and VICTORY 3DX)
        ERGONOmeter            Program to display the image refresh rate
                               and horizontal scan frequency
        GAMMAman               Gamma correction with the 16.7 million
                               color driver
        RUNman                 Extension tool to enhance the Windows
                               Program Manager
        ELSA CPview            Image Viewer to display and print multiple
                               image documents (only for ELSA DIPLomat)


4.1     ELSA Video Out

        Another page in the "Properties for Display" under Windows 95 is
        the "ELSA Video Out" page, that allows you to enable and to con-
        figure the video-out features. This page is available via ELSA
        WINman Suit tray.

4.2     DESKman

        When using multiple screens, the ELSA DESKman offers the
        option of positioning message dialogs in the middle of one monitor.
        You can reach the DESKman properties via ELSA WINman Suite. For more
        information see help <F1>.

        In the system menu you can change the language (German/English).

4.3     VIDEOcontrol

        This program allows to adjust brightness, contrast and color
        of video streams to succeed optimal video quality.


4.4     ERGONOmeter

        This program finds out the current refresh and horizontal scan
        rates. Ergonomic values appear in the green-colored section.

        In the system menu you can change the language (German/English).

        NOTE:
        Under Windows 95, you can get into the system menu by
        clicking on the title bar with the right mouse button.

4.5     GAMMAman

        GAMMAman does not support MULTIman configurations!

        With the ELSA GAMMAman you can modify brightness, contrast,
        linearity, and threshold value. Some filters are provided
        (e.g. Posterize, Sine). The gamma curve can be loaded, saved,
        smoothed, inverted, or set to a standard value. For more
        information click <F1> for help.

        In the system menu you can change the language (German/English).

        NOTE:
        Under Windows 95, you can get into the system menu by
        clicking on the title bar with the right mouse button.

4.6     RUNman

        After the installation of RUNman, you can define the
        location of the installation file with your settings:

        - at local installation under WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL
        - in the network Windows directory
        - nowhere, for testing the program

        In the system menu "File..." you can add programs to the RUNman
        buttons (see help "Keyboard and mouse commands"), open programs,
        inspect the program item properties or delete icons from RUNman.
        With the item "Language..." you can choose between "Deutsch"
        (German) and "U.K. English".

        NOTE:
        Under Windows 95, you can get into the system menu by
        clicking on the title bar with the right mouse button.

        Icons can be dragged into RUNman from the Microsoft
        File Manager and the HP Dashboard with the mouse (drag & drop).

        In the menu "Options..." many manipulations of RUNman are
        possible. Use the <F2> key to open the menu in the RUNman
        window.

        <F10>                   Turn the title bar on and off
        <Alt-F4>                Exit RUNman
        <Ins>                   Insert new file (browse)
        <Del>                   Delete current file from RUNman
        <Enter>                 Open file
        <Alt-Enter>             Set program item properties
        <Ctrl-Shift-0>          Standard combination for file import
                                from the Windows Program Manager (user-
                                definable)

        The mouse commands are described in the help system "Keyboard
        and Mouse Commands". For detailed information press <F1> for
        help.

        To use RUNman every time you start Windows, move the RUNman
        icon into the window for the "Startup" group by pressing the Ctrl-key
        and moving the icon with the mouse. The settings to RUNman are saved
        in a special installation file.


4.7     ELSA CPView
 
        The ELSA Image Viewer allows you to display and print several multi-page
        image documents in various file formats.
        CPView is a 32-bit application and runs only in Windows 95,
        Windows NT 4.0 and OS/2 WARP 3.0 and 4.0.

        Features

                - Multiple documents can be loaded into one view.
                - The display size can be freely adjusted so you can
                  page very fast through a document and then read the
                  text with enlarged scaling.
                - The Scale-to-Gray mechanism improves the quality of
                  black/white images so that the information is easily
                  readable even on small screens.
                - Skewed images can be rotated to make them readable.
                - Double-page mode allows you to show and read two
                  pages at a time.
                - Single pages or entire documents can be printed.
