                       The YAK-9D
This aircraft has good armament consisting of one 20mm cannon
in the nose, with 2x12.7mm mg also in the upper cowling.  The
plane first enetered service in 1943 as a follow-on to the
Yak-7.  16,769 were produced during the war, making it one of
the more numerous of the Russian fighters.
