TEST THE NEW SG 500 JAGDFAUST

Mission number of Me 163 tour: 6

In November 1944 a new kind of air-to-air
rockets was tested: the SG 500 Jagdfaust.
It consisted ofsevral high explosive 5 cm
rockets that were fired from two vertical
tubes in each wing of the Me 163. It was
activated by a light-sensitive cell, when
the pilot would fly beneath a bomber.
The test results showed great accuracy,
however very few Me 163s actually used
them in combat.
In early 1945, JG 400 was beginning to see
some action again. On 11 February pilots
of the I./JG 400 (first Gruppe of JG 400)
were able to down three B-17s around
Leipzig. One pilot of JG 400 was wounded,
his aircraft lightly damaged.
The SG 500 was probably used on this
mission.

YOUR MISSION

Your airplane is equipped with the new
upward-firing SG 500 rockets. You have
just got to ready them, then fly beneath
an enemy airplane and they're fired.
They are mostly effective as a anti-bom-
ber weapon.
Take your Schwarm of four Me 163s up from
Brandis airfield to intercept a big for-
mation of B-17s. They are very well
escorted, so watch out for yourself and
your comrades!
