THE ROUEN MILK-RUN

On August 17th 1942, the 97th Bomb Group
of the Eighth AF made the USAAF daylight
bombing run over occupied Europe. Twelve
B-17s bombed the railroad marshaling yards
and repair shops at Rouen, sixty-five miles
northwest of Paris. About half of the bombs
landed on targer, and all the bombers re-
turned to base safely after encountering
some minimal resistance from some FW 190
fighters. General Eaker, who had gone on
the mission as an observer, was pleased
with the result of this, the first American
test of daylight bombing. But, he noted,
"One swallow doesn't make a summer", and
as history would demonstrate, he was right.

YOUR MISSION

Ta-da! Here it is! The one and only
historical SWOTL mission that uses also
the historical number of airplanes!
You fly as wingman in a force of 12 B-17s.
Drop your bombs on the Rouen railway
center. To achieve maximum bombing
accuracy, use your bombardier, even though
you are flying as a wingman. Expect some
minor resistance from flak & fighters.
