By late 1944, the German defence system
was in shambles. Between drastic reduc-
tion in fuel supply and high attrition
rates among good pilots, the quality of
the defence dropped enormously. The ac-
tivities of the RAF's 100 Group spoofed,
jammed, and confused the enemy, preven-
ting decisive German action on most
nights.
Even so, the Germans were occasionally
able to put up large numbers of fighters
to attack a bomber stream. The last
German "success" was achieved as late as
16 March, 1945. On this night, the
British attacked Nurnburg (not the bomber
crews' favourite target...) with 293
aircraft. Despite Mosquito escort and
100 Group deceptions, the Germans mana-
ged to destroy 24 bombers.

ORDERS:
You are in a flight of Mosquitos escor-
ting a bomber stream to Nurnburg. Prevent
German night fighters from getting to
the "heavies."
