                       The YAK-9D
This aircraft has good armament consisting of one 20mm cannon
in the nose (150 rounds ammunition), with 2x12.7mm mg also in
the upper cowling (300 r.p.g.).  The plane first enetered
service in 1943 as a follow-on to the Yak-7.  16,769 were
produced during the war, making it one of the more numerous
of the Russian fighters.
