Overview

Introduction

The FD05PUB drive does not support the old Mac 800K 2DD format disks.

The FD05PUB drive does not have a power driven ejection mechanism; therefore, it does not eject automatically the next disk during a multi-disk installation. This cancels the installation process.
The work around is to copy all the disks to your hard drive, and run the installation from there.

If you have Mac OS 9.0.2 or 9.0.3, your system may lock-up at boot-up when the FD05PUB is connected. This is a Mac OS issue; therefore, you need to download the Apple upgrade to Mac OS 9.1 from their web site at http://www.info.apple.com/support/downloads.html

OS 9.0.4 issues with Unformatted Disks:
We are aware of this situation where your system locks-up completely when you insert unformatted disks, or when you start the computer using unformatted disks.
At this time, you cannot format (initialize) the disks under this OS version. Apple is aware of this situation, and it is recommended to update to OS 9.1.

Keyboards do not provide enough power for the FD05PUB; therefore, do not connect the drive to the keyboard. The drive must be connected directly to the USB port in your system, or into a self-powered USB HUB.
