============================================================================= AST RESEARCH, INC. SOFTWARE BULLETIN #0084 03-05-90 ============================================================================= PREMIUM UTILITIES RELEASE 1.01 Production Release 1.01 Available February 1990 Part Number: 910379-001 5.25 inch diskette NOTE: These utilities will only operate with the CUPID BIOS (part numbers 107000-690 and 107000-691). Includes enhancements and problem fixes of previous versions plus the following: PROBLEMS RESOLVED: CUPIDTST.EXE: - On the Auto Sensing screen, the text for the math coprocessor is changed from "Coprocessor Present" to "Coprocessor Internal". - The new bootloader now contains a DOS signature to accommodate Norton Utilities. - To resolve an intermittent DMA error during the floppy controller test, one retry was added for floppy DMA to override the error in the test. ASTCACHE.COM/SYS: - Restored function of the "/H" option. ASTCACHE now works in all computers, including a 6 MHz, single wait state system. ASTSETUP.EXE: - Effected a "cool" boot through the keyboard controller to work around ASTEMM with "ON" option to allow user changes to ASTSETUP to be recorded. HDFORMAT.EXE: - Resolved problem in the formatting of ESDI drives. FASTDISK.SYS and SUPERSPL.COM: - When video shadowing and hardware cache were both enabled, these two utilities would find memory that was allocated for shadowing and treat it as if it were available for use. Forcing the /DH and /DNC switches to be "on" all the time now prevents the programs from attempting to utilize shadowed memory areas. Production Release 1.00 Available January 1990 This is the initial release of the product. These utilities were originally released in conjunction with the first shipment of the 486/25 system.
