                     PREMIUM EXEC MODEM CONTROL UTILITY

This is the initial production release of the Premium Exec Modem Control
Utility shipped with the optional AST Premium Exec 2400 Baud Data Modem and
the Premium Exec Data/Fax Modem kits.

    DESCRIPTION:

    - The Premium Exec Modem Control Utility provides an additional method
      for AST Premium Exec users to enable or disable an installed internal
      modem option to further increase battery life.  Previously, it was
      necessary to enter ASTSETUP in order to disable or enable the internal
      modem.

    PROBLEMS RESOLVED:

    - This utility eliminates modem sensing problems that occur on the
      following power up after entering the AT command "AT&C1&W".

    PROGRAM FILES:

    - The Premium Exec Modem Control Utility contains one file, ASTMODEM.EXE.
