This is an updated release of the Premium Exec Utility Software and
supersedes release 1.06, part number 910458-031.

    ENHANCEMENTS:

    SLEEP.SYS v2.01
    - Has been modified to resolve problems with protected mode software.

    WIN_SLP.386 v1.02
    - Has been modified to resolve problems when initiating the Suspend
      feature when running Windows 3.0 in Enhanced (protected) mode.

This is the updated release of the utility software used on the Premium Exec
386SX/25.  This revision is also used on the Premium Exec 386SX/20 and
replaces AST Premium Exec 386SX/20 Utilities part number 910401-034 (refer to
Software Bulletin #0092B for information on this previous release).

    ENHANCEMENTS:

    SLEEP.SYS version 2.0
    - Now allows the system to suspend when running protected mode software.

This is the initial production release of the utility diskette shipped with
the Premium Exec 386SX/25 Computer.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW:

The Premium Exec 386SX/25 Utilities Disk is a 3.5 inch, 1.44 MB bootable
diskette that provides the user with system configuration, confidence
testing, performance enhancements and power management utility software.  A
menu-driven interface program, ASTMENU, is included to allow easy
installation of these programs.

NOTE:  The Premium Exec 386SX/25 Utilities Diskette contains new software
       programs which are completely compatible with MS-DOS 5.0 and AST MS-
       DOS 5.0 and have not been released in any previous version of AST
       Utilities.

PROGRAM AND FILE DESCRIPTIONS

Listed below are the programs and descriptions of files included on the
Premium Exec 386SX/25 Utilities Diskette:

    ASTEXP.EXE
    - Enables hardware expand of LCD display and enhances appearance of
      screen fonts.

    ASTMENU.EXE
    - Menu used to install or run utility programs.

    ASTTEST.EXE
    - System confidence test program.

    ASTSETUP.EXE
    - Used to set system hardware configuration.

    ASTIVGA.COM
    - Set or customize video mode.

    HDFORMAT.EXE
    - Hard disk formatting program.

    SWSETUP.EXE
    - Menu providing options to install or customize utility software and
      performance enhancement programs.

    SLEEP.SYS
    - Software power conservation driver.

    SUPERPCK.COM
    - Hard disk cache program to enhance hard disk performance.

    PCKWIN.SYS
    - Hard disk cache device driver to enhance hard disk performance under
      Windows 3.0.

    PCKWIK.SYS
    - Hard disk cache device driver to enhance hard disk performance.

    SPEED.EXE
    - Allows processor speed changes to be executed from a program instead of
      using keystrokes.

    OEMSETUP.INF
    - Installation file providing setup information to Windows when
      installing the Windows Power Management Utility.  This utility enables
      the use of the Premium Exec Suspend Feature when running Windows 3.0 in
      standard or enhanced mode.

    VDDVGA.386 and VGA640.DRV
    - LCD display drivers for Windows 3.0.
