This is an updated version of Empire (DAC960) configuration diskette.

This diskette allows the user to easily upgrade the system BIOS by writing a 
new image of the system BIOS to the Empire (DAC960).

Release 1.22 of the Empire (DAC960) supersedes all previous releases of the 
BIOS.  This BIOS provides the following problem resolutions and 
enhancements:

The file ID.DAT was corrected to allow the mixing of disk drives made by 
different manufacturers.  This file causes the controller to round the 
capacity of the drive to a uniform size. 

The drives added to the file were: 

Seagate ST31200N    (1GB)
Quantum Empire 540S (500MB)

Release 1.21 of the Empire (DAC960) supersedes all previous releases of the 
BIOS.  This BIOS provides the following problem resolutions and 
enhancements:


PROBLEMS RESOLVED

ENHANCEMENTS:

The latest BIOS for firmware 1.24 adds support for the DOS driver 
DACDRVR.SYS.  
This driver must be used when memory managers (such as HIMEM.SYS and 
EMM386.EXE) are used.  The current release of this software is located in 
the Manhattan SMP section of AST's BBS and is titled "smp7.exe".

The EISA configuration file for the 5 channel Empire controller was updated

A new drive sizing feature eliminates the previous requirement to use the 
same disk drive manufacturer and model when using the "Standby 
Replacement" feature.

This is the first release of the Empire (DAC960) disk array configuration 
utility and related support files.  The diskette is DOS based and requires a 
mouse.  The current release of this software is located in the Manhattan SMP 
section of AST's BBS (817) 230-6850 and is titled "smp7.exe".

AST's BBS supports modem speeds up to 28.8k bps.  The above file will also
