PREMMIA GX FLASH BIOS UPDATE

This is an updated version of the Premmia GX Flash BIOS image.  
This diskette allows the user to easily upgrade the system BIOS by writing a 
new image of the system BIOS to the Premmia GX's flash BIOS loader.  
Release 3.01 of the Premmia GX Flash BIOS Image supersedes all previous 
releases of the Premmia GX BIOS.  

File 05540314.EXE can be found on AST's BBS (817) 230-6850. AST's BBS supports

Release 3.01 provides the following problem resolutions and enhancements:


PROBLEMS RESOLVED

Fixed Premmia GX problem of failing to warm boot with one IDE channel, if 
onboard SCSI was enabled.

Fixed problem of failing to boot on systems with 2 drives on the same 
channel.

Fixed problem in autoconfiguring serial ports, if port 1 is set to 2F8h or 
port 2 is set to 3F8h.

Fixed problem of not being able to use the built-in AMD ethernet in Win 95.

Fix Win95 MINRES error: support COM1 to COM4 for both serial ports.

Release 3.0 provides the following problem resolutions and enhancements:


Support CMD646 riser card.

Support 133MHz CPU.

Add "PNP OS" field in SETUP.

Use new EISA ID and motherboard ID for Premmia GX.

ATI video BIOS version 113-25504-100 interfering with DMA writes.

System unable to boot with 2 Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI Host Adapters installed.

Fix WHICHSIMM problem.


ENHANCEMENTS

Add ATI one wait state PCI memory write patch.

Add CMD PCI IDE riser card support.

This BIOS provides the following enhancements and problem resolutions:


PROBLEMS RESOLVED

Fix problem when read-only on I/O ports is enabled and warm boot reports 
serial and parallel ports conflict.

Fixed the problem of formatting a diskette with Ethernet controller enabled.  
Enabled floppy FIFO. 

Fixed problem ACFG stack conflict with Adaptec SCSI BIOS.


ENHANCEMENTS

Change MPS table setup mechanism so the table will not appear in single 
processor CPU configuration.  This allows Windows NT RC1 to install on 
uni-processor Premmia GX.

Change SETUP administration password wording from "Disable" to "None."

Incorrectly auto-sense serial ports problem.

UPBIOS.EXE problem when SCSI is enabled.  


ENHANCEMENTS

Add Plug-n-Play run-time support.

Replace all "AST" strings with "A S T".

Move MPS 1.1 floating pointer table from base memory to F000 segment.

Remove CPU type and speed display in Setup.

Default LAN config to DMA 7, IRQ9, IO 300 and "DISABLED".

Support Separate serial ports in Setup.

NOTE: This BIOS must be used with P/N 911371-032 DISKP UTIL EISA 
CFG R 1.01.

Fixed problems assigning same IRQ to two devices on the two PCI slots.

Change DRAM timing to x-4-4-4 read/write and RAS only refresh (PCEB, 57h).
