                  FIRMWARE UPDATE TO QUANTUM DRIVES USED IN BRAVO LP

This is an update to the Quantum hard drive firmware.

        PROBLEMS RESOLVED:

        - Bravo LP systems using Quantum ProDrive LPS (127A, 170A, 210, or
          340AT) IDE drives may experience the following symptom:

        - The system fails to do a soft boot after power management has been
          invoked and the system is reset with the <Ctrl><Alt><Del> sequence.
          The drive hangs and the following error message appears:

                "Drive Not Ready"


        - Download the file 583031.EXE from AST’s BBS.  AST’s BBS can be
          reached by dialing the following telephone number: (817) 230-6850.
	  AST's BBS supports modem speeds up to 28.8k bps.  Then follow the 
	  steps below:

                1. If the drive is a master or single drive in the system, at
                   the A: prompt type:

                        "load_d0"

                2. If the drive is the slave or second IDE drive in the
                   system, at the A: prompt type:

                        "load_d1"

                If the drive is not a Quantum drive of this family, the
                program will abort and you will be notified of this fact.

                The acceptable Quantum hard drive TLA number is RR34A011-03-J.

                NOTE 1: Although this procedure should not make any changes to
                the data on the hard disk, Quantum recommends that you back up
                all the data on the hard disk before starting this procedure.

                NOTE 2: Warranty reimbursement requires prior AST Research,
                Inc. approval.
