This is an update to the Ascentia 800N System BIOS.  It is not mandatory to 
change the keyboard controller with the BIOS upgrade.  However, if you would 
like to upgrade the keyboard controller, contact your AST Authorized Service 
Center and request part number 237034-002.  

File 548032.EXE can be found on AST's BBS (817) 230-6850.  AST's BBS supports

This release contains the following problem resolutions and enhancements:


PROBLEMS RESOLVED

System did not restore from suspend properly when the second battery was 
installed.

System locked-up at boot if the pointing device was set to PS/2 mouse and 
there was no mouse attached.

Hard disk drive LED stayed ON after accessing the Seagate 340MB HD.

User could access CMOS Setup when keyboard was locked.

Keyboard typematic rate and delay was not saved when system was in suspend.

Intermittent mouse lockup when entering Windows for the first time at 
power on.

Added support for hard drives larger than 528MB.

External numeric keypad (part number 501495-001) did not work.

This release contains the following problem resolutions and enhancements:


PROBLEMS RESOLVED

Can not wake up the system from standby mode.

CRT not functioning properly when suspend to disk in LCD-only on color STN, 
then resume, then switch to CRT-only. 

Snowy lines in 1024x768x256 non-interlaced.

The speaker state changed after resume.

PC card not recognized after resume.

The system will not suspend to disk when KBD locked.

System enters suspend with doublespace.

Contrast range out of sight on Mono.

The system enters standby mode during system lock

When the system is Resume-From-Disk and keys on the external keyboard are 
pressed, the keyboard locks-up.  

External numeric keypad does not work. 

Ascentia 800N can not sense the external Logitech mouse M-S28-6MD.
