===================================================================== AST RESEARCH, INC. SOFTWARE BULLETIN # 0257 7-19-96 ===================================================================== TITLE: Crystal CS4232 Audio Windows 3.X, v1.30 FILENAME(S): 11950035.EXE and 11950036.EXE PART NUMBER(S): 911950-035 and 911950-036 SUMMARY File 11950035.EXE contains version 1.30, disk 1 of 2, of the Crystal CS4232 audio drivers for Windows 3.X. File 11950036.EXE contains version 1.30, disk 2 of 2, of the Crystal CS4232 audio drivers for Windows 3.X. This software applies to the following systems: 503057 and 503058. RESOLUTIONS General 1. Version numbers for CrystalWare have been upgraded to 1.30 for the Windows and DOS software. 2. Windows driver, VxD, and FM driver must have the same version number to work. The driver has version checking code for the various pieces. DOS Driver Fixes Fixed Dos driver bugs involving downloading firmware in a CS4236 when Configuration Manager was loaded. The following scenarios would cause the Dos driver to download the wrong RAM code: cm, CS4232C.EXE /o, full resources; and cm, CS4232C.EXE, and null resources. Windows Driver and VxD Bug Fixes 1. The Windows driver does not mute the alternate FM mute when selecting the Synth mute, although the internal FM mute is getting set. 2. Adjusting the monitor slider while the Master Volume control is muted, will cause the monitor to unmute and play monitored audio (for example, the VU meter). 3. The master volume control now controls the monitor slider. Because the CS4236 has separate volume controls for playback and capture, the Master volume controls both the monitor and WAV volumes. 4. The Karoke mode will not show up on the Input Panel on some PnP systems. May involve configuring the Control Port via PnP. Fixed VxD code where the driver was trapping too many I/O locations. Business Audio Transport (BAT) 1. When the user enters a file name with more than 8 characters, the user will get an error message. After a format is selected, the open button on the BAT will not work. 2. Added code to prevent multiple dialog open window for one instance of BAT. Now, each BAT instance only has one format dialog. 3. Fixed bug where clicking the open button in the BAT, and then clicking the Cancel button would always bring up an error message. 4. Updated version to 2.10. CS32WSS Fixed error message when CS32WSS is run on a CS4236. Change message from "Error preparing the CS4232 for WSS Mode" to "Could not locate the CS4232." CS32MIX.EXE 1. When saving values to AUTOEXEC.BAT, the first line of the dialog is clipped as in AUTOEXEC.BA. 2. CS32MIX does not give the correct usage information. For example, typing CS32MIX /C will display information on how to use the /F option instead of the /C option. ENHANCEMENTS CSFM.DRV 1. Updated version to 1.30. 2. Rebuilt with new global structure. Setup Updated version to 1.30. Input Panels Updated version to 1.30. CS32HMX.EXE, CS32CFG.EXE, CS32DIAG.EXE, Updated version to 1.30. CS32INTR.EXE, CSACGUCD.EXE Updated version to 1.30. PREVIOUS RELEASE(S) Versions 1.25 and earlier contained the following problem resolutions: Fixed an issue caused by running the command line "DEVICE=CS4232C.EXE /o/r/v" in the CONFIG.SYS file, where "/o" forces use of configuration data in CS4232.INI file "/r" does a resource download without restoring original configuration "/v" produces a detailed display of program operation With previous versions of the program, when booting into Win95 and then getting out of Windows to real MS-DOS mode, running cs4232c with the "/v" command line switch would not reconfigure the card. The program CS4232C.EXE would not run in a Windows DOS Box. On PnP BIOS machines running CS4232C.EXE without the /W flag, the system would configure and then reconfigure the card again. Fixed cases where going into MS-DOS mode from Win95 resulted in the CS4232 device not being configured. CS4232C would play some games at half speed. Versions 1.25 and earlier contained the following enhancements: Added new command line option: /R, which does a resource download and does not restore original configuration (with NEWNULL.INI).
