AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN #0814 02-16-93 BRAVO LC 4/33SX AND MATH-COPROCESSOR SUPPORT The Bravo LC 4/33SX was originally designed with the intention of supporting a Intel 487-33 Math-Coprocessor. This Math-Coprocessor for the 4/33SX has not been brought to market by Intel. To utilize a math-coprocessor, the Bravo will need to be upgraded to a 486-66 processor. The 486 DX2-66 processor upgrade, (part number 500961-002) available through AST, is basically the same as the OverDrive Processor available through Intel and also includes 256KB external cache. The DX2s which are sold to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) have a 168 pin processor. The OverDrives sold through the retail channel have a 169 pin processor. This processor would replace the existing 4/33SX processor installed on the Zero Insertion Force socket (ZIF) on the cache module of the Bravo LC. The Bravo LC cache module can support either version of the doubler.
