AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN #0825 04-15-93 PREMMIA SYSTEMS WITH INTERMITTANT CACHE ERRORS PROBLEM: The Premmia may hang at random intervals while running applications after passing POST. No error messages are generated. Memory failures occur while running Advanced Diagnostics. CAUSE: The SRAMS at locations U20-U27 on the cache RAM module (part number 202518-001) are "Cypress" brand IC's. This vendor has been disqualified for use on the cache module due to failure to meet AST specifications. AFFECTED SYSTEMS: All Premmia Systems. SOLUTION: Replace the cache module with one which has SRAMS of a vendor other than Cypress, e.g. Motorola.
