AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN #0832 06-10-93 POWER EXEC/ SYSTEM SETUP/ UNIX PROBLEM: Using UNIX with the Power Exec will not let the user access the system setup. CAUSE: When UNIX boots up it does not look to the BIOS but directly to the hardware. At this point if UNIX sees no mouse port because it is disabled in CMOS, using the Fn-F2 key to bring up the system setup will not work. SYSTEMS AFFECTED: All Power Exec models. SOLUTION: Enabling the mouse port to the serial port will let UNIX see an active mouse port and the system setup can be accessed after UNIX boots.
