AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN #0842A 09-30-93 BRAVO LC WITH CMOS BATTERY FAILURE PROBLEM: After one week of operation the CMOS battery fails and the system setup is lost. CAUSE: The failure is caused by a Motorola chip, part number MCCS146818B at location U41. Only revision B of the chip will experience this problem. Motorola chip MCCS146818A is not affected. AFFECTED SYSTEMS: All models of Bravo LC and Advantage with motherboard part number 202492-XXX or 202480-XXX with Motorola chip MCCS146818B. SOLUTION: Replace the system board with similar part number, which can be located between the slots. All stock at AST has been reworked and the affected component is no longer used. The motherboard can be sent to AST for repair or the system can be sent in to the AST Repair Center for the board to be replaced.
