AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN #0903 3-16-94 PREMMIA LX WITH 3COM ETHERLINK II RUNNING BANYON VINES PROBLEM: Error occurred when running a Premmia LX with a 3Com Etherlink II 16 bit card (3C507TP) on a Banyon Vines 5.53 network. When Banyon attempted to enable the 3Com card, garbage appeared on the screen. Various I/O address Base address and Interrupt levels were tried to no avail. Also, the 3Com diagnostics did not recognize the card when it was enabled and running the "Internal Testing of Adapter" program. It did recognize the 3Com card when EMM386.EXE was removed, but it still did not work with Banyon. CAUSE: Firmware corruption on the 3Com 3C507 Ethernet adapter. SYSTEMS AFFECTED: Premmia LX SOLUTION: Use one of the Intel-approved Ethernet adapters listed below: NE2000 16-Bit adapter Intel Ether Express 16-Bit adapter
