AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN #0925 05-10-94 POWEREXEC SCREEN BECOMES CORRUPTED IN DOS WINDOW WHILE RUNNING WINDOWS PROBLEM: When a DOS window is opened under Windows, the screen may become corrupted and the text on the screen may be echoed to the right. This only happens while running DOS under Windows and not in Windows applications. CAUSE: The video drivers supplied with PowerExec notebook systems are specifically designed to run with the internal video sub-system which is based on the Western Digital 90C26 video chip set. When shipped from AST, every PowerExec notebook is configured with the proper Windows video drivers. If another video driver is selected, unpredictable results may be experienced. SYSTEMS AFFECTED: All PowerExec notebook computers. SOLUTION: Use the Windows video drivers that are supplied with the PowerExec notebook (P/N 910601-033 Rev. A).
