                    POWEREXEC 05.04 MEMORY ERROR ON POST

PROBLEM:        During the Power On Self Test, some PowerExec notebooks
                display the following error message:

                    05.04 the computer has a memory problem...
                    error address 01:3000:000 found FFFF expected 0000.

                This message is extremely rare and does not in any way effect
                the performance of the system.

CAUSE:          Cache was not disabled during execution of the memory sizing
                algorithm.

SYSTEMS
AFFECTED:       All PowerExec notebook computers.

SOLUTION:       Press the <F1> key and continue to boot the computer.
                The system will continue to operate normally.
                Update the system by flashing AST BIOS 2.23.  For additional
                information, contact AST’s technical support and refer to
                Problem Report # N08040.
