CAUSE: BIOS Version 1.09 or lower does not support large capacity drives. SYSTEMS AFFECTED: AST REVISION PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION LEVEL 501288-XXX PRM LX P60/3 8 MB 115V All SOLUTION: To ensure that the system translates the information so that DOS sees the entire drive, do the following: NOTE: If data exists on the hard drive, back up the data prior to proceeding. 1. Update the BIOS to 1.10. 2. Press to enter Setup. 3. In Standard CMOS Setup select drive type AUTO-CONFIG. 4. Select Advanced CMOS Setup. Press twice. 5. In Advanced CMOS Setup, highlight IDE LBA TRANSLATION Logical Block Addressing). 6. Press to enable IDE LBA TRANSLATION. 7. Press to exit. 8. Highlight WRITE TO CMOS AND EXIT. 9. Press . 10. Press ‘Y’ for YES. 11. Press to save and exit Setup. 12. Use FDISK to delete all partitions and then recreate new partitions. 13. Use Format to reformat the drive. After formatting, the system will read the entire drive. NOTE: It is extremely important to run Fdisk and then re-Format the drive when you make any changes to IDE LBA TRANSLATION.
