                GRiD 1680 MODEM FAILS TO OPERATE AT HIGH SPEED

PROBLEM:        Unable to connect GRiD 1680 notebook with 14.4k internal modem,
                at speeds greater than 2400 baud.

CAUSE:          The modem may not be properly configured.

SOLUTION:       Use the following AT command sequence to ENABLE the modem’s
                high-speed and data-compression features.

                        AT&F
                        AT&C1&D2\JO\N7\Q3%C1
                        AT&W

                This sequence restores the modem to factory default settings,
                enables the modem’s high-speed and data compression features,
                and saves the setting to non-volatile RAM as the new
                power-on defaults.  The modem will operate reliably at speeds
                of up to 38.4k baud, provided there are no other failures.
