                             AST DESKTOP QUICK TIME


PROBLEM:        When running certain applications such as the “MYST” CD ROM
                Windows game, which uses the “QUICK TIME” video decoding scheme,
                the user may encounter a Windows Application Error.

CAUSE:          The Windows Application Error is due to QUICK TIME incorrectly
                using scratch video memory for caching.

SOLUTION:       In the MACX section of the Windows’ SYSTEM.INI file add the
                following line:

                     DeviceBitmap=Off

                This will disable QUICK TIME to use Bitmap caching and the
                problem will not occur.
