                DESKTOP SYSTEMS WITH ADAPTEC PCI ADAPTER EXPANSION SLOTS


PROBLEM:        The Adaptec PCI SCSI Controller, model AHA-2940 does not allow
                a susccessful installation of Windows NT, version 3.1 if using
                a Sony CD-ROM drive, model  CDU-541.  However, Windows NT does
                install correctly when using a later version of Sony’s CD-ROM,
                such as CDU-561.

CAUSE:          Adaptec driver incompatibility.  The Adaptec driver does not
                support the Sony CDU-541 drive.
