                       ASCENTIA 900N PCMCIA MADGE 16/4 ADAPTER


PROBLEM:        When using the Madge 16/4 Token Ring PCMCIA adapter with the
                Ascentia 900N systems, the following problems occur:

                1. The system hangs while testing the "Initialize the Adapter"
                   routine.
                2. While running the "Initialize the Adapter" portion of the
                   Diagnostics, the following error message appears on the
                   display:

                        "Error 1113" "Undocumented error, call Madge for
                         assistance."

CAUSE:          Madge Smart Ringnode Diagnostics program, version 3.11 is
                incompatible with the Ascentia 900N PCMCIA controller.

SOLUTION:       Madge has issued a new version of the Software Diagnostics.
                Call Madge Technical Support at (800) 876-2343 to obtain the
                latest software for the Madge PCMCIA 16/4 Token Ring Adapter.
