TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1023 10-5-94 = MANHATTAN SMP ERROR CODE G9 WITH SCO UNIX RELEASE 3.2v4.x PROBLEM: When booting SCO UNIX, release 3.2v4.x, on the Manhattan SMP, the system hangs at error code G9. This problem occurs intermittently. CAUSE: The "G" portion of the failure code is an initialization routine and it is defined by SCO as "Initializes the Programmable Interrupt Controllers (PIC) chips and multiprocessors." SYSTEMS AFFECTED: AST PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION 520092-XXX MANHATTAN SMP 486DX/50 520155-XXX MANHATTAN SMP PENTIUM/60 SOLUTION: Because this problem is extremely intermittent, the problem is resolved by pressing the reset button to reset the system. AST's Technical Support Organization should be contacted for troubleshooting assistance if the symptom continues to occur after pressing the reset button.
