                 SERIAL MOUSE HANGS TEMPORARILY IN THE ASCENTIA 700N


PROBLEM:        When connecting a serial Microsoft or PS/2 compatible mouse to
                the COM1 port and loading the driver in an Ascentia 700N, the
                mouse cursor moves and temporarily hangs.

CAUSE:          The DOS utility POWER.EXE is not compatible with Microsoft
                mouse driver versions 8.2 or 9.01 causing the mouse pointer to
                temporarily hang.

SOLUTION:       Update the Microsoft mouse driver to ver. 10.0.  Call
                Microsoft Customer Service at 1-800-426-9400.
