= AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1046 1-16-95 = PREMMIA GX BOOTING WITH HITACHI SCSI DRIVE PROBLEM: The Premmia GX system does not boot into OS/2, version 2.11, when a Hitachi DK315C-10 (1GB) SCSI hard disk drive is connected to the integrated SCSI adapter. CAUSE: Synchronous data transfers are typically faster than asynchronous. Some hard disk drives do not handle synchronous data transfers. Therefore, the /!SN or "no synchronous" option should only be used if synchronous transfers cause a problem. SYSTEMS AFFECTED: AST PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION 501457-601 PREMMIA GX P/90 SOLUTION: To disable synchronous operations, edit the CONFIG.SYS file in the system to read: BASEDEV=OS2CAM.ADD /!SN
