                     MICROSOFT MOUSE DRIVER VERSION 10.0


PROBLEM:           When attempting to load the Microsoft Mouse 
                   driver, version 10.0, onto any AST system, the 
                   following error message may appear:

                        Microsoft mouse not found: Try another 9 or 25 
                        pin serial port or check for interrupt conflicts.

Note:              The mouse is still useable in Windows.


CAUSE:             The Microsoft Mouse driver, version 10.0 can not 
                   properly sense an AST extended BIOS for the PS/2 
                   mouse port.


SOLUTION:          Install the Microsoft Mouse driver version 10.0 for 
                   MS-DOS on an AST system, add the following line to the 
                   [Mouse] section of the MSINPUT.INI file:

                        FailIfNoExtendedBIOS=FALSE


SYSTEMS AFFECTED:  All AST systems.
