TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1159 4-26-95 = ADAPTEC PCI SCSI CONFLICT IN MANHATTAN P SERVER PROBLEM Manhattan P systems using the integrated NCR SCSI controller and two Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI controllers will not see the last physical drive attached to the second Adaptec controller under Novell Netware 3.12. CAUSE The integrated NCR SCSI controller is in conflict with the second PCI slot (PCI slot #2) on the Manhattan P system board. The conflict arises due to the configuration of the interrupts for the NCR SCSI controller. The interrupts are fixed, and even when disabled, they conflict with the add-in device in PCI slot #2. SYSTEMS AFFECTED AST PART NUMBER AND DESCRIPTION REVISION 501500-XXX Manhattan V5090 All Models 501502-XXX Manhattan P5090 All Models SOLUTION AST BIOS release 1.09 resolves the interrupt conflict with the on-board NCR SCSI controller. The system BIOS should be flashed to a minimum level of release 1.09 to resolve the problem. BIOS Release 1.09 has AST Part Number 905547-038 and it is available on the AST On-line BBS and On-line services.
