= AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1172 5-8-95 = MANHATTAN P, V, AND G SYSTEMS WITH DPT PM3224 TWO CHANNEL PCI DISK ARRAY CONTROLLERS PROBLEM The SX4000 daughter card (2nd channel board) associated with the DPT PM3224 controller on the Manhattan P, V, and G systems can cause the following errors: Netware: The system fails to mount volumes reporting errors such as: "Mirror copies of the FAT do not match. Volume SYS not mounted" Windows NT: The system will indicate file corruption errors when cold-booting. Pressing the button allows the system to boot into NT. OS/2 System hangs at boot to hard drive reporting errors such as "OS/2 kernal NOT ACCEPTABLE" CAUSE SX4000 boards that have the DPT10003C BIFIFO II at IC locations U3 and U4 (on the SX4000 Module board) are out of spec. DPT is changing the PLD (Programmable Logic Device) at IC location U9 on the SX4000 board. The old PLD is a XILINX device identified by the code 383J. The corrected part will be identified by the code 383L at location U9. (This is a surface mount PLD) SYSTEMS AFFECTED All Manhattan P, V, and G systems with the Disk Array Option.
