REMOVING AST PCMCIA NETWORK ADAPTERS WHILE RUNNING NOVELL NETWARE


PROBLEM

It is recommended that when removing the AST PCMCIA Network adapters from the 
Ascentia 9XXN notebooks, the Netware ODI drivers also be unloaded.


CAUSE

Problems can occur when an AST PCMCIA Ethernet or AST PCMCIA Token Ring 
adapter is removed while the system is connected to a Novell LAN.


SYSTEMS AFFECTED
AST PART NUMBER AND DESCRIPTION

All Ascentia 9XXN systems.


SOLUTION

If the adapter is to be removed, the Novell ODI drivers need to be unloaded 
in the reverse order of the installation.

From a DOS prompt, the sequence for removing the Ethernet ODI drivers is 
as follows:

	ipxodi u
	pcmdmcs u
	lsl u

For Token Ring, type the following at the DOS prompt:

	netx u
	ipxodi u
	tokencs u
