TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1178 5-8-95 = BOOTING OFF OF NCR 8100S PCI SCSI HBA CARDS PROBLEM When the NCR 8100S card is installed on a Manhattan P or V, any SCSI drives attached to the system may not boot. CAUSE The NCR 8100S controller does not have a BIOS ROM on it. SCSI drives can not boot from a controller without a ROM. SYSTEMS AFFECTED : Manhattan P and V Systems. For other operating systems, see the README files on the SCSI diskettes (AST P/N 911283-313 and 911283-314, rev. 1.06). For further information on the NCR SCSI Driver Diskettes, see Software Buulletin # 0171B on AST's BBS, SBS library. Files 11283313.EXE and 11283314.EXE can be found on AST's BBS (817) 230-6850, in the "Systems" file area. AST's BBS supports modem speeds up to 28.8k bps. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the line DEVICE=C:\path\DOSCAM.SYS where 'path' is the location of the DOSCAM.SYS file. After rebooting, drives on the NCR 8100S controller will be recognized.
