Adventure 40XX system is cold booted using the Power ON switch, the system may report a "Hard Drive 0 Error". CAUSE The system BIOS sends a Drive Initialization Command before the Maxtor hard disk drive is ready, causing the above error. SYSTEMS AFFECTED AST PART NUMBER AND DESCRIPTION 501690-XXX ADVANTAGE! ADVENTURE 40XX SOLUTION Upgrade the system with BIOS 1.01.09A or greater (AST part number 905560-031). To obtain the above part number, do one of the following: 1. Call AST Technical Support at (800) 727-1278. 2. Contact the nearest AST Authorized Service Center. 3. Download file 05560031.EXE from AST's BBS (817) 230-6850, in the "Systems" file area.
