PREMMIA LX WRITES CHARACTERS TO SCREEN DURING DOS 
BOOT


PROBLEM

Premmia LX system may write miscellaneous characters to the screen during 
a DOS boot.


CAUSE

Incompatibility between the Lite-On keyboard firmware and AST's older 
keyboard controllers.

SOLUTION

Keyboards shipped prior to March 21, 1995 may have the above problem.  
The solution is to replace the Lite-On keyboard (AST part number 230851-001) 
with AST part number 234171-001.  


NOTE

Ensure that the power to the system is turned OFF before disconnecting or 
attaching any peripherals to the system.
