ADVANTAGE! 6066D UNABLE TO INSTALL HDD


PROBLEM

The following AST User's Manuals state that the system can accommodate 
three or more hard disk drives:

003123-001A (page number 34)
003242-001A (page number 36)
003263-001A (page number 30)

Some Advantage! systems include a CD-ROM.  The CD-ROM uses the second 
connector of the IDE controller cable.  The system is unable to accommodate 
an additional hard disk drive.


CAUSE

Erroneous information in the User's Manual.

SOLUTION

Obtain a second adapter card for the secondary IDE interface.

AST Advantage! Computers Addendum part number 003314-001A, March 1995, states 
the following:

	Your computer has one IDE connector that supports up to two IDE drives, 
	including hard drives and CD-ROM drives.  If your system comes with an 
	IDE hard drive and a CD-ROM drive, you need to install an optional IDE 
	interface board before you can install additional IDE drives.
