	   DPT 2012B SCSI DRIVER DETECTED A CONTROLLER ERROR WHILE RUNNING 
					    WINDOWS NT SERVER 3.5 


PROBLEM

The Distributed Processing Technology (DPT) PM 2012B SCSI driver detected a 
controller error on \device\scsiport0 while running Windows NT Server 3.5.  
The occurrence frequency of this error is directly related to the amount of 
hard disk activity.

Controller: DPT #230193-004 PM2012b V003.G   4.5MB memory.
Hard Drive: Quantum Empire Series 230135-132 1 GB.

SOLUTION

Both steps one and two are required to fix the problem.

1. Use the latest DPT Windows NT 3.5 driver "1JM".  
The current DPT Windows NT v3.5 driver, file name NT351JM.XIP, can be 
downloaded from DPT's BBS (407) 831-6432, Directory #6 SmartDrivers.  
The DPT BBS telephone number can also be found in the DPT User's Manual.

2. Upgrade Quantum Empire 1GB, 1080s hard drives to the latest AST 
approved firmware 1220.

The 1220 Quantum firmware, QFLASHJD.EXE, can be accessed from AST BBS.  
Download the self-extracting file QFLASHJD.EXE from AST's BBS and follow 
the README instructions.

File QFLASHJD.EXE can be found on AST's BBS (817) 230-6850, in the "Systems"
file area.  AST's BBS supports modem speeds up to 28.8k bps.
