= AST RESEARCH, INC. TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1252 7-18-95 = ASCENTIA 950N AND POWERSTATION III PROBLEM The Ascentia 950N system is unable to power on, with the Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) closed, while docked in the PowerStation III. CAUSE The Ascentia 950N is operating as designed. Due to the Pentium processor, there is excessive heat generated by the system. A fan on the ProStation (PowerStation IV) draws the heat out of the Ascentia 950N system when the LCD panel is closed. However, the PowerStations I, II, and III do not have this feature. To prevent damage to the system, the unit will not power on if the LCD panel is closed and docked to a PowerStation. If the Ascentia 950N is docked on a PowerStation I, II, or III, the LCD must remain open to allow excessive heat to escape without harming the unit.
