PASSWORD FEATURE NOT WORKING ON MANHATTAN P AND V SYSTEMS


PROBLEM

The password feature was not working effectively on the Manhattan P and V 
systems.  Upon system boot, when the password was requested, pressing the 
<CTRL><ALT><DEL> would bypass security, booting directly into the Operating 
System. 


CAUSE

BIOS prior to version 1.10 did not prevent the system from bypassing the 
password feature when a warm boot (<CTRL><ALT><DEL>) was initiated.

SOLUTION

The Manhattan P/V flash BIOS, version 1.10 
(AST part number 905547-039) resolves the issue with the password feature 
providing security for the system.  Obtain this part number doing one of the 
following:

1. Contact an AST Authorized Service Center.

2. Contact AST Technical Support at 1 (800) 727-1278.

3. Download the Manhattan P/V flash BIOS version 1.10, file name 
05547039.EXE from AST' BBS (817) 230-6850, in the "Systems" file area.
