Ascentia 950N Operating Temperature Appears To Be Warm


PROBLEM	

The Ascentia 950N may feel warm to the touch.  


CAUSE		

The system runs hot primarily because of the Pentium Processor and the L2 
cache.  The difference between this and a 486/75 system without the L2 
cache is about 4-5 Watts.


SYSTEMS AFFECTED

All Ascentia 950N Systems


SOLUTION

There is nothing wrong with the Ascentia 950N which is operating as 
designed.  It is recommended that the battery area of the Ascentia 950N 
notebook not be placed on a person's lap or exposed skin while the system 
is in operation.

In no case will AST Computer be liable for damage to the system or loss 
of data caused by the improper implementation of this technical bulletin.
