TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1337 12-4-95 = Ascentia 910N Not Recognizing The IBM PCMCIA Token Ring Adapter When Using With Lan Server Requester Under OS/2 Warp PROBLEM The PCMCIA configuration utility recognizes an IBM PCMCIA Token Ring adapter, when using the adapter with a fresh install of the Lan Requester 4.0, under OS/2 Warp, on an Ascentia 910N system. However, the configuration utility shows the card "not ready" and the unit is unable to make a connection to the network. CAUSE Lan Server Requester's install program does not configure the IBM PCMCIA Token Ring card properly. SOLUTION After the installation of the Lan Server Requester is completed, follow the steps below: 1. Start the MPTS configuration program by clicking on the MPTS icon in the Desktop folder. Click on the "configure" button. 2. When the "configure" box pops up, click on the "configure" button. 3. In the "LAP Configuration" box, click on "edit". 4. The next screen will display "Parameters for IBM PCMCIA Token-Ring Network adapter". The Lan Server Requester install program does not configure "Shared RAM Address" and Memory mapped I/O address" automatically. Use your mouse or arrow keys to select the parameter to edit these fields to D400 and D800 respectively. 5. Click on OK, update the CONFIG.SYS file, and exit. 6. Shut down the system and restart. Upon reboot, the PCMCIA configuration utility will recognize the IBM card and the Card Status field will show OK.
