TECHNICAL BULLETIN # 1345 12-11-95 = Premmia SE Server and Hitachi DRAMs PROBLEM When 64MB of memory is installed in the Premmia SE computer, the system halts with the following error message, when using SCO ODT 3.0 or SCO UNIX 3.2v4.2: FATAL: Parity error on the motherboard PANIC: Parity error address unknown CAUSE The 16MB Hitachi SIMMs are incompatible with the TI chipset on the system board. IDENTIFICATION Hitachi's part number HB56D436SB-7 is located on the DRAM of the SIMM. SOLUTION Use SIMMs that AST has qualified for the Premmia SE Server computer system. Revision A of Technical Bulletin #0899 contains a list of qualified SIMMs. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION 1. The error message described in this Technical Bulletin is specific to SCO's ODT and UNIX products. Other advanced operating systems will encounter the same problem and will halt because of a memory parity error, but the error message will be unique to that particular operating system. 2.
