       Manhattan P WangDAT 3400DX Fails with DPT PM3224 and Windows NT


PROBLEM

The following tape drive error occurs when the backup utility is started on 
the Manhattan P system:

      "A tape drive has been detected and configured but it is not responding. 
      Please check cables ..........etc."


CAUSE

The DPT 3224 SCSI controller firmware, version 7A, has a timing problem 
with WangDAT 3400DX. 


SOLUTION

To obtain the most current DPT 3224 firmware, please call DPT support at 
(407) 830-5522.


NOTE

DPT 3224 SCSI controller's firmware version 7C was tested successfully 
with WangDAT 3400DX, but AST did not release this version officially.  
AST officially releases firmware 7CH.
