          Bravo MS-T Windows 95 Auto-Adds Integrated COM Ports Causing 
                         a Conflict with Internal Modem


PROBLEM

Windows 95 will auto-add the integrated COM ports even though the COM ports 
are DISABLED in CMOS Setup.  This addition will not allow the addition of an 
internal modem on COM1 or COM2.


CAUSE

Upon OS boot up using Windows 95, plug and play is detecting the machine 
hardware.


SOLUTION

Use Windows 95 Device Manager to DISABLE the integrated COM port. 
To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Double-click the system icon from the control panel.
2. Select the Device Manager.
3. Double click on the COM port being used (COM1 or COM2).
4. Uncheck the 'current configuration' box and choose 'OK'.  This should 
   place a red 'X' on the associated COM port.
5. Run the 'Add New Hardware' from control panel and allow it to 
   auto-detect your hardware.  Windows95 will find the internal modem 
   COM port.
6. Run 'Add New Hardware' from control panel again.  Do not do an 
   auto-detect.  Choose "modem."  Windows95 will test all available COM 
   ports for a modem.


SYSTEMS AFFECTED

Any machine using a Plug and Play BIOS.
