		    Premmia 486 Pentium Upgrade Lock-Up


PROBLEM

The Premmia 486 system may not boot, may lock up, or data corruption may 
occur after upgrading the processor to a P24T Pentium Overdrive.


CAUSE

The AST Premmia 486 system was developed prior to the introduction of 
Intel's Pentium Overdrive strategy.  This system is not designed nor was it 
ever intended to take advantage of Intel's Pentium Overdrive technology.

The processor socket on the system board was designed for a 486 or 486 
upgrade processor only. 


SOLUTION

AST recommends that the Premmia 486 user not upgrade the processor using 
the Intel P24T Pentium Overdrive.
